about

Five years on from the label’s debut release, Bristol based Innate mainstays Gilbert and Owain K step into the limelight with their first split EP.

Buoyed by the rip-roaring success of recent solo outings on 030303 and M>O>S Recordings. Gilbert offers a perfect summary of his trademark sound full of star-gazing sci-fi synths, immersive textures, glassy-eyed melodics and timeless grooves.

First doffing a cap to one of his major influences, Leeds legends LFO on ‘Low Flying Objects’ – you’re met with booming acid bass, intergalactic electronics, dreamy pads and jacking drums. When the breakdown comes, it’s a thing of rare beauty. Flipping the script on ‘Unknown Entities’, he wraps shuffling drums and butter-smooth bass in celestial chords, yearning synths and the bubbliest of leads with serious emotional punch.

Owain K adds two more sublime slabs of head-in-the-clouds dancefloor futurism. Taking us to ‘Corona Borealis’, a small constellation a billion light years away, he combines the dreamiest of ambient chords with crispy electro drums, a deliciously raw bassline inspired by bleep techno’s most celebrated tune, and melodies that twinkle like distant stars. Accompanied by ‘New Horizons’, a lusciously enveloping, sun-splashed deep house workout that first appeared on a digital-only EP back in 2014, alongside a bonus offering on 003. It provides a suitably tactile and warming end to another fine collection of high-grade cuts.

Rounded off with the subtle and warm tones of Gilbert's 'Dreams of Tomorrow' as a very special Bandcamp bonus, we hope you'll enjoy this fine missive from our hearts
